Privacy policy
This page explains what data is handled when you use englishlearner.org. In short: the site has no accounts. The only third party that may collect data through this site is Google, through Google Analytics (visit counts) and Google AdSense (ads).
Who is responsible
The site is run by Michael Lip. You can contact him at support@zovo.one.
What we do not collect
- There are no user accounts and no sign-up forms.
- We do not collect names, email addresses or other contact details through the site.
- Your quiz answers are checked in your browser. They are not sent to us.
Hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub receives technical data such as your IP address when your browser requests a page. GitHub explains its handling of this data in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
Data stored in your browser
Some features save small pieces of data in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device. We cannot read it.
- Your advertising choice. If you click Accept or Decline in the privacy notice, the choice is saved so we do not ask on every page.
- Test history. The level test saves your past results so you can see them again on the same device. Some other tools do the same.
You can delete this data at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which lessons and tools are used. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives data such as the pages you open, the approximate region, the device type and the site that sent you here.
- Google signals and ad personalisation for analytics are turned off.
- The site removes query data from page addresses before they are sent, except campaign tags (utm_*).
- Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
- Your quiz answers are not sent to Google Analytics. The site records only that a tool was used.

Advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Ads may not appear on every page or on every visit.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site or to other sites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and to other sites on the internet.
- You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Your choice
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. Google Analytics and the Google ad code are not loaded until you click Accept in the notice. If you click Decline, neither is loaded.
- Other regions. Google Analytics loads on every page. The Google ad code loads on content pages, such as the home page, a lesson or a practice tool.
- Everyone. You can change your choice at any time. Use the "Privacy choices" link at the bottom of every page and click Decline to stop Google Analytics and the ad code from loading.
We do not know your location. The site guesses your region from the time zone set on your device. If the time zone is missing or generic, the site asks before it loads any Google code.
No ad code is loaded on this privacy page, the About page or the Contact page.
Links to other sites
The site links to other websites, including BeLikeNative, which belongs to the same developer. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Children
The site is for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
