The mastery bonus
Mastery is a game score. Each answer in the current streak adds a 4% multiplier, up to 20%.
How the quiz works
The quiz uses a list of 40 useful English adjectives. Each quiz has up to ten questions. The three wrong options in each question come from the same list.
There are two question types. In Word → meaning you see a word and choose its definition. in Meaning → word you see a definition and choose the word. Both modes ask you to recognise the correct choice.
The levels A2 to C1 are a rough guide to difficulty. They are our own estimate and not an official CEFR word list.
The mastery number is your percentage of correct answers with a small bonus for a run of correct answers in a row. The bonus is 4% for each answer in the run, up to 20%, and the number never goes above 100. A wrong answer or a skipped question ends the run.

How to remember new words
- Write your own sentence with each new word. A word in a sentence is easier to remember than a word in a list.
- Come back to the quiz the next day and again a few days later. Repeating a word after a break helps it stay in memory.
- Learn a few words at a time. Five words that you can use are worth more than twenty that you only recognise.
