How the result is worked out

The test has five questions for each of the six CEFR levels. The questions start at A1 and get harder. You pass a level when you answer at least three of its five questions correctly.

Your result is the highest level you pass without failing a lower level first. The result page shows your score for every level, so you can see where the questions became too hard.

What this test cannot tell you

This is a short practice test. It checks grammar and reading only. It does not check speaking, listening or writing, and five questions per level is a small sample. Treat the result as a rough guide and not as an official level. For a certificate you need an exam from a recognised exam board.

To learn what each level means, read the guide to CEFR levels. To work on weak points, go to the grammar lessons.

30 grammar and reading questions, from A1 to C2. It takes about 10 minutes.
