Current TOEFL scores

ETS maps the 1 to 6 TOEFL iBT scale to CEFR. It also publishes an IELTS comparison. Our current-score mode shows only the direct ETS CEFR table. Read the ETS score-scale guide.

IELTS and older TOEFL scores

Our IELTS comparison uses the IELTS Academic table for TOEFL tests taken before January 2026. IELTS warns against applying that table to the revised test. Read the IELTS comparison and test-date warning.

CEFR is a comparison

A comparison is not a new test result. IELTS says its bands and CEFR levels do not match one to one. Read the IELTS CEFR guidance.

Check each course requirement

Check the university or course page for its test dates, accepted tests and section requirements. No score here promises admission.

The official tables used here

These are overall scores. Do not use them to convert individual section scores.
